On the last night of their South Pacific tour, William and Kate attended an unusually informal ‘state dinner’ hosted by the island chiefs. The couple donned grass skirts and took part in a traditional welcome dance, known as Fatele.
Following the exertion William and Kate were then invited to sit on heart-shaped thrones and enjoy a celebratory meal of local delicacies. The menu included raw slices of paala fish, leg of pork, lobster and fresh clam, with pii, or fresh green coconut juice, to drink.
When Kate removed her skirt she revealed a floor length, flowing dress by Alice Temperley.The 'Beatrice' embroidered crepe maxi ($795 and sold out) creation looked like it could be a designer relic from the 60s or 70s. It featured gold buttons and embroidery on the sleeves, waist and center panel of the dress.
