Kate Looks Riveting in Red on a Visit to Scotland

This morning, William and Kate touched down in Crieff, Perthshire where they began their day of engagements with a visit to Strathearn Community Campus. The campus houses a school, community library and indoor and outdoor sporting facilities

They spent about an hour on the campus where the Duchess spent most of her time speaking to young members of the Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and watched a demonstration by members of the Muthill scouts as they made Scottish pancakes.

William met with representatives of Scottish Air Ambulance and looked at one of their helicopters.

The couple (known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn when in Scotland) rounded off their first visit by opening a reconstruction of a timber circle, known as the Pittentian Timber Circle, which was excavated in 2011 during the construction of the Beauly to Denny power line. Few of these sires have been excavated, thus making it an important archaeological find.

Next on the agenda was a visit the newly restored MacRosty Park where they unveiled a plaque to mark the dedication of the park as a Field in Trust.

Their third stop was at the country’s oldest working whisky distillery, the Famous Grouse Distillery dating back to 1775.

The couple officially opened the recently renovated Famous Grouse Experience visitor attraction before sampling various whiskeys at the bar in what the Duke noted turned out to be “a very liquid lunch”.

Then they enjoyed a private tour of the distillery, complete with a nosing and tasting of The Famous Grouse range, before becoming the first people to “Bottle your own” Glenturret whisky.

Finally William and Kate attended a fete in the tiny village of Forteviot where they were given a tour by John Dewan, Lord Fonteviot, the scion of the Dewan whisky dynasty.
