Kate & William are Welcomed to Prince Edward Island

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived for an official welcoming ceremony at Prince Edward Island today - the setting for the novel Anne of Green Gables.

They arrived in a horse-drawn coach to the delight of thousands of fans who waited patiently for hours for a chance of a glance of the newly-weds. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in their famous red uniforms provided an escort for the pair who rode with the province's premier Robert Ghiz and his wife.

Kate wore a long-sleeved cream sailor-inspired sweaterdress with a tie detail at the neck and double navy stripe trim by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen. The drop-waist dress fabric has a subtle repeating cable-knit stripe motif. She teamed the outfit with navy blue heels and her gorgeous sapphire and diamond earrings. She wore her hair in a chic ponytail.

Next Kate watched as William took part in Sea King helicopter demonstration in Dalvay by-the-Sea. She changed into a navy belted trenchcoat, bright red scarf, dark skinny jeans and beige and white deck shoes .

Reports suggest that Kate's red scarf is a Hugo Boss silk and cashmere pashmina available at Selfridges for £160.

Kate then removed her trenchcoat and scarf to take part in a Dragonboat race against William (Wills took the title). She replaced the trench with a Nike windbreaker.

Update:

Kate's beige and white deck shoes have been ID'd as Sebago Ladies Taupe Bala Deck Shoe £80.00 (sold out). Available at www.ocbutcher.co.uk

Kate's windbreaker has been ID'd as Nike’s Windproof Anorack Women’s Golf Jacket $80. Available at http://store.nike.com/us/en_us/ .

It also seems that Kate switched her earrings to the Kiki McDonough yellow 18ct gold and citrine drop earrings.

Update 7/5/11

We have just been informed that The McQueen frock that Kate wore in PEI was also worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in 2006.

The Sex and the City leading lady donned her navy blue version of the sailor style dress back in 2006, when supporting hubbie Matthew Broderick as he was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

Sarah upped the ante of her demure design by accessorising with scarlet stilettos and glossy loose locks.
