The Royal Family Pays Their Respects to the Fallen on Remembrance Sunday

A profound silence fell across Britain as people of all ages and backgrounds came together to honor those that died for their country.

On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, two minutes of silence brought the nation to a standstill as respects were paid to members of the Armed Forces who died fighting in all conflicts since the First World War.

Joining the thousands that crammed the streets were members of the Royal Family, including the Queen, Prince William and Kate.

The ceremony was held at the Cenotaph memorial in London where the Queen laid the first wreath. The Duchess of Cambridge watched from a balcony at the Foreign Office alongside the Countess of Wessex and Sir Timothy Lawrence.

Kate wore head-to-toe black and recycled her Diane von Furstenberg coat that she wore to last years service. The double breasted coat is from von Furstenberg's 2008 collection. It is 100% wool and features a detachable trim to the collar and cuffs called ‘soutache.' It adds a touch of glitz.

The Duchess of Cambridge's wide-brimmed Phillip Treacy hat is also a repeat. She wore the same black number for William’s passing out ceremony at Sandhurst back in 2006.

Topping off her look Kate wore her Annoushka pearl earrings, her British Legion Poppy Brooch (available in-store at Marks & Spencer and online at www.poppyshop.org.uk.) -- plated with 18-carat gold and covered in red and black crystals, and her black gloves.

A Walk Down Memory Lane

For those that need a refresher on what Kate wore to the Remembrance Sunday Ceremony last year, it was a Jane Corbett head piece with a simple black bow.

One more memory jog...Back in 2006 for William's passing out ceremony, Kate wore her Phillip Treacy hat with a red Armani coat.

Update 12/6/2012

There has been an interesting development in the identification of Kate's gloves. A company called Cornelia James emailed 'Kate Middleton Blog' and 'WKW' to report that Kate's gloves could possibly be their black pure wool glove with side bow (£52). The company makes gloves for the queen (and holds the royal warrant).

The stange thing is that they also make the gloves that Black & Co sells. The statement from Cornelia James www.corneliajames.com/ is as follows: "We actually make both the gloves in question – the satin lycra glove and the pure wool version. We only supplied the pure wool version to St. James’s Palace. I think it very unlikely that the Duchess would wear a satin glove – essentially a cocktail glove – in daylight hours. "
