Kate Wears Christopher Kane to Pre-Olympic Reception and Opening Ceremony

Hours before the official opening ceremony, the Queen hosted a champagne reception at Buckingham Palace.

About 190 guests were present - including 95 heads of state and government and their spouses.

After the reception the guests moved to the Olympic stadium to attend the opening ceremony.

Kate wore a bespoke ice blue silk coat dress by Scottish designer Christopher Kane. The single-breasted design features long-sleeves, pockets and a belted waist. It's streamlined darts create a minimalist vibe.

The Duchess of Cambridge finished off her look with a gray bespoke Alexander McQueen box clutch and custom Kiki McDonough earrings (thanks to My Small Obsession on FB for the ID).

Kate, William & Harry Welcome the Olympic Torch

A smiling Kate, William and Harry were joined by 40 children from the Team GB Ambition Program as they watched Wai-Ming hand over the London 2012 Olympic Torch to John Hulse.

After travelling nearly 8,000 miles, the Olympic Torch was finally welcomed to Buckingham Palace and signalling the final countdown to the opening ceremony.

After the exchange, John Hulse carried it out of the palace towards Constitution Hill where it continued on to Hyde Park.

Kate looked sporty in a white polo shirt from Adidas (Team GB), but also chic in her skin- tight cobalt blue cropped pants from Zara (originally £35.99 and now on sale for £12.99). Her shoes were understated yet classy as she donned Stuart Weitzman 'Corkswoon' black wedges ($225 and available at zappos.com) to add height and some extra sex appeal to the ensemble.

The Royal Trio Kick Off the Coach Core Program

A dressed-down Kate, William and Harry were at Bacon’s College, a secondary school in East London, to launch an initiative to help young sportspeople become coaches.

The Coach Core program is being piloted by Greenhouse, an organisation that will train 16 to 19-year-olds to become qualified coaches and mentors for their schools and communities.

The hope is that the talented young sportsmen and women will be able to inspire their students and build a future for themselves in sport.

Kate looked summery in a patterned, 50s-inspired white and grey Hobbs 'Check Wessex' dress. The dress was originally priced at £119 and was marked down to £35 before it sold out.

This dress has long proved a hit for Hobbs. The brand has wheeled out the design for two seasons in a row and are constantly restocking due to popular demand.

A Hobbs representative said: "Our bestselling Wessex dress returned for Spring/Summer 2012 in a new grey and white checked print. Available in linen, it features a flattering '50s inspired silhouette with a full skirt and nipped in waist. It also has short sleeves and a concealed back zip.
